Caterina Palazzi

Contrabbassista e compositrice, leader dal 2007 della band Sudoku Killer, quartetto ben noto nella scena jazz, noise e sperimentale europea, con cui ha registrato i tre album Sudoku Killer (ZdM, 2010), Infanticide (Auand Records, 2015), Asperger (Clean Feed, 2018) e con cui ha all'attivo più di 600 concerti in tutta Europa e in Asia. Nel 2010 ha vinto il Jazzit Award come migliore compositrice italiana. Attualmente si dedica anche al progetto in solo Zaleska, performance audiovisiva in cui linee melodiche si intrecciano a momenti dissonanti e rumoristici, creando una sorta di orchestrina funebre solitaria. Ogni composizione musicale è ispirata ad un attore che ha impersonificato il personaggio di Dracula nella cinematografia. Spesso la sua musica interagisce dal vivo con performances di video designers, pittori e artisti visivi.

Caterina Palazzi was born in Rome. She was the guitarist for the punk rock group the Barbie Killers. Beginning in 2000, she moved closer to jazz while attending the DAMS University (Arts, Music, and Show). From 2002 she attended the professional course at Saint Louis College of Music of Rome. She is the leader and composer of the jazz/noise band Sudoku Killer, which released the albums Sudoku Killer (ZdM, 2010) and Infanticide (Auand Records, 2015) In 2010, Palazzi won the Jazzit Award for best Italian composer. The album Sudoku Killer won second best album and her band won fourth place. From 2010–2015, she was named best new talent[13] for the other important Italian jazz prize, TOP JAZZ, by Musica Jazz magazine. She has worked with Stefano Bollani, Gianluca Petrella, Roberto Gatto, Maurizio Giammarco, Mirko Guerrini, Israel Varela, and Luca Aquino. She is the sister of photographer Michele Palazzi.
